What have we accomplished and where are we going?
Accomplishments
We Are Fiscally Responsible
• Refinanced the city’s Pension Liability using historic low interest rates in 2021 and saved the city $166M
• Established pension obligation trust that ensures that future councils can’t reallocate any savings.
• Brought a redundant powerline to the Dos Lagos Area without increasing rates. 99.99% reliability for 2022
• Improved our Bond rating to AA+
• Completed over 20 operational and fiscal audits in 3 years. Every department.
• Eliminated scheduled Overtime in the Fire department and accelerated hiring
• Focused on Economic Development, tripling the size of the department and developed Downtown Revitalization and Economic Development Strategic Plans which are due in the next few months. You must know where you want to go to get there.
• Developed Entrepreneurial Workshops and trainings, both in English and Spanish to grow new businesses in Corona.
Sound Infrastructure
• Brought redundant Power line to Dos Lagos/Crossings 99.9% ontime since new line was installed
• SR-91 Corridor Operations Project-Non-Toll Lane for the 91 WB between Green River and SR-241 Completed Jan 2022.
• I-15 Corridor Operations Project-Non Toll Lane for SB 15 between Cajalco and Wierick, completed in July 2022
• Signed City Wide Fiber Optic Agreement that cost the city nothing and will make high speed internet available to every street in Corona.
• Developing a Trails Master Plan
• Finalizing Parks & Recreation Master Plan
• Optimize traffic flows and light responsiveness- Invested over $6M in new Artificial Intelligence and camera systems to maximize the flows of traffic.
• Re-paved hundreds of Lane Miles of Corona Streets
• New Crosswalks and traffic calming improvements all over District 5
• Recycle at Home program approved to pick up your recycling at your door!
Public Safety Focused
• 15 New Sworn Police Officer positions,
• 9 new Community Services Officers
• 5 New fire positions- including 4 new firefighters
• Low Acuity Fire Response Service- Less wear & tear on engines and will allow faster response time in responding to medical calls
• Enhance City’s Graffiti Removal Program- Faster response
• Enforce anticamping and trespassing ordinances
• Funding and Implementing our Homeless Strategic Plan
• Harrison Street Shelter, Transitional Housing on 5th Street and Permanent Supportive Housing for our permanently disabled homeless
Sense of Place
• 5 Parks playgrounds replaced (Lincoln, Santana, Mt. Gate, Cresta Verde and Tehachapi Parks ), more to come
• Over $1.2M invested in park equipment at 12 parks - New benches, BBQ's Sign and Picnic areas. All coming soon.
• Reopened Griffin Park and installed a new dog park
• Purchased 292- Acres of Open space near Skyline Drive to prevent additional development
• Community Events & Gatherings like expanded 4th of July, concerts and dozens of community clean-ups
• Full-Time Special Event Coordinator Hired For Monthly Clean Ups & Volunteering
• New City Branding coming soon AND SO MUCH MORE
